The University of Regina's women's basketball team had three players honoured by Canada West on Thursday morning as the conference announced its all-stars and all-rookies for the 2024-25 season.
Jade Belmore was named a first-team all-star,
Cara Misskey earned third-team all-star honours, and
Izzi Fust earned a spot on the Canada West All-Rookie Team.
Last year's Canada West Player of the Year, Belmore led Canada West with an average of 19.4 points per game this season and earns first-team all-star honours for the third consecutive campaign. She becomes the first U of R player ever to earn three Canada West first-team all-star nominations. Belmore was also a third-team all-star in 2022, making her the first Cougar player to earn four Canada West all-star nods.
Misskey averaged exactly 15 points per game this season while leading the Cougars with 3.6 assists per game and also collecting 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals per contest to earn third-team all-star honours. It's the second career all-star nomination for Misskey, who was also named a second-team all-star following the 2022-23 season.
Fust finished third on the Cougars with an average of 9.7 points per game and was also second on the team in both rebounds per contest (6.2) and minutes played per game (28.4). Fust was also the team's leader with 26 blocks on the season, helping give the Cougars a member of the Canada West All-Rookie Team for the second consecutive year.
NOTES: Belmore joins a select group of U of R players to be named conference first-team all-stars at least three times ... Vivian Kingdon (1988-90), Jackie Moore (1988-91), and Corrin Wersta (1998-01) are the only others, all during the team's time in the Great Plains Athletic Conference ... Belmore also joins Moore, Wersta, Bree Burgess, Andrea Gottselig, and Trena Mott as the only four-time conference all-stars in school history.
