Chase the Ace

RULES
  1. Tickets are restricted to those 19 years of age and older
  2. Ticket price is $10.00. A maximum of 16,000 tickets may be sold, with a total prize value of $80,000. We will accept e-transfer at cougarchaseace@gmail.com
  3. Tickets can be purchased starting each Tuesday at 12:00 noon and concluding each Monday at 11:59 PM.  Ticket sales will start on Oct. 1, 2024 and pause on Dec. 10, 2024. Sales will resume on Jan. 1, 2025 and will finish on Feb. 25, 2025.
  4. Ticket will be drawn Tuesday's at 9:30 AM at the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies at the University of Regina.  The winner gets 20% of ticket sales from that week.  One winning ticket will be drawn and the winner then gets to pull a card from the deck.
  5. The winning ticket holder’s name will be called out three times, to determine if they are present at the draw location.
  6. If the holder of the winning ticket is not present, a Charity-Appointed Proxy will be used to complete the draw. The winner will be notified by email and/or phone. Unclaimed prizes will be held in a secure location for a period of one year from the draw date. If the prize goes unclaimed the prize will be donated to a charitable beneficiary approved by the SLGA.
  7. The designated Charity-Appointed Proxies are Jill Fulton and Shauna Machnaik.
  8. Distribution of weekly ticket sales: 20% will be awarded to the winning ticket holder, 30% will be added to the growing jackpot Ace of Spades, and 50% will go to the Cougar Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams.
  9. If the Ace of Spades is drawn, the selected card is removed and the 30% goes to of the overall jackpot goes to the winner. The winner also receives the 20% from the weekly prize. If the Ace is drawn before Jan. 7, we will start a new Chase the Ace with a new deck of cards.
  10. If the Ace is drawn on the first draw the winner will receive 20% of the weekly ticket sales and 30% of the total prize.
  11. Draw winner gets chance to win the Jackpot by cutting the deck of cards. A standard deck of cards will be used.
  12. If the Ace of Spades is not drawn, the selected card is removed and the 30% of ticket sales from that week goes in the growing jackpot.
  13. At the end of each week’s “cut the deck” segment, the rest of the deck will be displayed to show that the Ace of Spades is still in the Deck
  14. Contest continues with the same deck of cards until the Ace of Spades is drawn
  15. There is no limit to the number of tickets a person can purchase.
  16. Only tickets sold during the current week are eligible for that week’s draw.  All tickets sold will be removed from the draw drum at the conclusion of each weekly draw.
  17. No refunds are allowed for any ticket purchased.
  18. Cougar Hockey players and coaches and their families will be permitted to purchase tickets, but are not permitted to participate as the Ticket Draw Person in that week’s draw.  Volunteers who are assisting directly with the draw, including putting raffle ticket into the draw drum that evening, are not permitted to purchase tickets for that draw.
  19. Play Out- The raffle will continue for the duration of the SLGA license.  If the Ace of Spades has not been drawn by February 25, 2025, a playout will occur.  The winner of the February 25, 2025 draw will receive 20% of the week’s sales, as normal, and will then draw for the Ace.  If he/she does not draw the Ace, another name will be drawn from that week’s ticket sales.  That person will get an opportunity to draw for the Ace, but will not win any of the weekly winnings.  If that person draws the Ace, he/she will receive the cumulative 30% of the ticket sales.  If that person does not draw the Ace, we will repeat this process until the Ace is drawn.
  20. Draw dates will be every Monday starting on October 8, 2024 and conclude on Feb. 25, 2025. We will take a break from Dec. 10, 2024 to Jan. 1, 2025.
