Greg Hetterley joined the University of Regina coaching staff in the fall of 2023 as an endurance coach.
As an NCCP Performance Coach, Hetterley has coached athletes to a variety of city, provincial, and national championship medals in endurance-based events and relays. During the summer of 2023, Hetterley served as the head coach of the U16 provincial team that took gold at the Dual Province Championships.
A Cougar alumnus, Hetterley was the University of Regina Rookie of the Year in 2016 and won the U of R's President's Award in 2019. He is a four-time Canada West medalist and won U SPORTS bronze in the 1000-metre run in 2019. He's also the U of R's record holder in the 1000, running 2:24.84 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University in 2019. He's also a four-time member of the national team, most recently earning bronze for Canada at the NACAC Mountain and Trail Running Championships in September of 2023.
Hetterley graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Regina and a Certificate of Reconciliation Studies from the First Nations University of Canada in 2021. He is currently working towards his master's degree in educational psychology while working as a teacher for Regina Public Schools. In addition, he coaches with the Excel Athletika track & field club as well as with the Regina High School Athletics Association.
