The University of Regina hired Sabrina Nettey as its women's and men's track & field head coach in May of 2023.
Nettey came to the Cougars from Trinity Western University, where she had served as an assistant coach since the 2018-19 season. Nettey specialized in coaching long jump and triple jump with the Spartans and also had a long stint with BC Athletics as that organization's introductory program coordinator. She also gained volunteer experience as a coach and board member with the Surrey-based Universal Athletics Club.
As a student-athlete, Nettey competed for two years at Stanford University and two seasons at Trinity Western. A prolific talent with the Spartans, she was the 2014 CIS Female Field Athlete of the Year and remains Canada West's record holder in the long jump as her mark of 6.32 metres in 2014 still stands as the longest ever registered at the conference championship meet. In between her time at Stanford and TWU, Nettey represented Canada twice on the world stage, competing in the long jump at both the 2012 NACAC U23 Championships in Mexico and the 2013 Summer Universiade in Russia.
Nettey majored in psychology at Trinity Western while competing for the Spartans and received a Bachelor of Arts from TWU in 2015. She is currently pursuing a Master of High Performance Coaching and Technical Leadership degree through the University of British Columbia.Â
