Roberto “Bubba” Allen played high school football at Cedarbrae Collegiate (Toronto) before moving on to play two seasons with the Vanier College Cheetahs in Montreal.
Allen has been involved with the Scarborough Minor Football Association for over 17 years as a player and coach. He's currently the coaching director and junior varsity head coach for the Association.
Allen has won several championships at all levels, both as a player and a coach. He won a PeeWee provincial championship in 2001 as a first-year head coach and won two regional championships with Agincourt Collegiate while serving as their offensive coordinator from 2009 to 2012. Allen was named a runner-up for 2011 NFL Youth Coach of the Year, an award designed to recognize community or high school coaches across Canada who use football to make a positive impact on their communities. He was nominated by current Denver Broncos offensive lineman Orlando Franklin, who was introduced to football by Allen.
Allen, an educator at Highcastle Public School in Toronto, has family ties to the Rams. His younger brother Adrian Charles starred at running back for the Rams during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, earning first-team All-Canadian status following his first season at the U of R. Charles is still the holder of the school's single-season rushing yards record, rushing for 972 yards during the 2010 campaign.
Allen and his wife Vanessa have one daughter (Aaliyah) and one son (Romeo).
