Connor Bichel joined the University of Regina Cougars' track & field coaching staff in 2024 as the team’s first pole vault coach.
Bichel has been coaching track & field since 2020 and is currently the lead pole vault coach for both Excel Athletika and the Regina High School Athletic Association while helping with Saskatchewan Athletics, Team Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association, and the National Legion.
Originally an endurance runner, Bichel decided to switch events upon seeing other athletes participating in pole vault. His main goal in being a coach is to create the opportunity for more people to enjoy the niche event of pole vault.
Bichel attended the University of Saskatchewan from 2015 to 2020. He was a member of the Huskies' track & field team while earning his Bachelor of Science degree at the U of S in mechanical engineering.
