Janine (Polischuk) Pottage joined the Cougars’ coaching staff in the fall of 2023 as the team’s combined events coach.
One of the most prolific student-athletes in University of Regina history, Pottage competed for the Cougars for three seasons from 2006 to 2009. During her tenure with the Cougars, Polischuk was an 8-time national medalist and a 13-time Canada West medalist. She was named the Canada West and CIS Field Athlete of the Year in both 2008 and 2009, earned Canada West Championships MVP and CIS Championships MVP honours in 2008, and was the University of Regina's Female Athlete of the Year in 2008 and 2009. She also still holds the school record and the Canada West meet record for the triple jump at 12.72m and 12.54m, respectively.
Prior to joining the Cougars, Pottage attended San Diego State University where she won the heptathlon at the Mountain West Conference Championships as a freshman and was named that conference’s Freshman of the Year in 2004.
Pottage was the first female track & field athlete to be inducted into the University of Regina Sports Hall of Fame, earning that honour in 2017. She was more recently inducted into the Canada West Hall of Fame in 2022.
Pottage graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Science in 2009. She also coaches with Excel Athletika in Regina.
