    Cross Country & Distance Coach
Dr. Stephen Davis joined the University of Regina’s coaching staff at the start of the 2015-16 season.
 
An NCCP Certified Level 2 Endurance coach, Davis coached rookie Greg Hetterley to a gold medal in the 1000-metre at the Canada West Championships in his first year as part of the coaching team. Since that time, he has coached a number of athletes to Canada West medals in the 600-metre, 1000-metre, 1500-metre, and 3000-metre events along with national medals in the 4x800-metre relay and the 1000. Davis’ athletes have also earned gold and silver medals during the outdoor season at major competitions including the Canada Summer Games (Alex Eiswerth) and the Canadian Track & Field Championships (Jonathan Podbielski).

Davis was recognized as the Saskatchewan Athletics Coach of the Year in 2023.
 
Davis earned Bachelor of Physical Education, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Science degrees from the University of Manitoba before receiving his Ph.D from the University of Regina. Dr. Davis is a scientist with Environment Canada's Canadian Wildlife Service and is an adjunct professor in the U of R's Department of Biology.
