Sue Higgs coached the University of Regina's women's basketball team for nearly a decade, leading the Cougettes from 1971-72 through 1979-80.
The program made its first appearance at the CIAU Championship during Higgs' tenure, playing in the 1979 tournament as the host school. The Cougettes had three consecutive second-place finishes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference under Higgs, including 11-5 teams in both 1976-77 and 1978-79.
Betty Hoffart became the program's first All-Canadian selection in Higgs' final season with the U of R, earning second-team status following the 1979-80 campaign.
