The Cougars finished with a 2-1 record at the Cougar Classic, a four-team non-conference tournament hosted at the CKHS. Regina defeated Alberta and Fraser Valley, but lost to Carleton.

Sunday Recap

The U of R scored the first seven points of the game and never looked back, taking an 83-68 win over Alberta in a game which they led by 40 at one point in the third quarter.

Michelle Clark led all players in both points (20) and assists (8), while Danielle Schmidt scored 12 and Brittany Read had 10 points to go along with a game-high seven rebounds.

Anneka Bakker led Alberta with 14 points.

In the morning game, Fraser Valley's Courtney Bartel hit a pair of free throws with seconds remaining to help the Cascades to a 59-58 victory over Carleton.

Saturday Recap

The Cougars suffered their first setback of the non-conference schedule with an 80-59 loss to Carleton on Saturday night at the CKHS. Carleton led by eight points at the half, but pulled away from the host Cougars with a huge third quarter that saw the Ravens outscore the U of R by a 27-9 margin.

Megan Chamberlin led the Cougars with 10 points off the bench, while Jennilea Coppola had a team-high 10 rebounds.

Kendall MacLeod led Carleton with 20 points. Darcy Hawkins scored 16 in just 18 minutes, while Krista Van Slingerland and LIndsay Shotbolt both had 12.

Saturday's opening came saw Fraser Valley take a 65-55 win over Alberta.

Friday Recap

The Cougars opened the weekend with a 75-58 victory over Fraser Valley on Friday night at the CKHS.

Clark scored 17 points in the first half alone and ended up with a game-high 21 for the Cougars. Chamberlin had 11 points off the bench in the win, while Read had eight points and led all players with eight rebounds.

Sarah Wierks led Fraser Valley with 13 points and seven rebounds.

In Friday's opening game, Carleton edged Alberta 69-65.
