The University of Regina's women's basketball team won all three games over the weekend at the McGill Redbird Classic. Michelle Clark was named the tournament MVP, while Clark and Lindsay Ledingham were both tournament all-stars.

The Cougars opened up the tournament with a convincing 82-44 victory over Ottawa on Friday afternoon. The U of R scored 12 consecutive points late in the first quarter and never looked back, leading by as many as 23 points in the first half and holding Ottawa to just 18 points in the third and fourth quarters.

Ledingham led all players with 18 points, while Clark was close behind with 17. Brittany Read had 10 points and 10 rebounds to notch the game's lone double-double, while Katie Polischuk was 4-for-6 from three-point range and ended up with 12 points. Tatiana Hanlan led Ottawa with 13 points.

On Saturday, the Cougars defeated host McGill by a 70-30 score. They held McGill to under 20% shooting for the game and didn't allow the Martlets to hit double digits in a quarter until the fourth, when McGill scored 10. Clark and Ledingham both had 10 points to lead the Cougars, while Charlotte Kot chipped in with nine.

Sunday's game with Saint Mary's was close at the half, but the Cougars pulled away with a massive third quarter. They outscored the Huskies 36-13 in the third and cruised to a 90-69 victory.

Danielle Schmidt was the U of R's leading scorer, ending up with 18 points. All five starters scored in double figures for the Cougars, including Read (14 points), Ledingham (12), Clark (12), and Jennilea Coppola (10). Coppola and Ledingham both had double-digit rebounds to end up with double-doubles.

Justine Colley scored a game-high 21 points for Saint Mary's.

The U of R concludes its non-conference schedule next weekend at home, as they host the four-team Cougar Invitational. The five-game tournament stretches from Thursday to Sunday, with Fraser Valley, Saskatchewan, Windsor, and the host Cougars all involved.
