University of Regina men's hockey coach Trevor Keeper announced Thursday that Matt Gallant has committed to the program. The right-handed defenceman spent time in both the WHL and AJHL during the 2024-25 season.

"I'm super excited to be a part of this team and program," said Gallant. "I'm looking forward to getting an education while continuing to play hockey at a high level."

Gallant – who is from Langley, BC – most recently played for the Whitecourt Wolverines of the AJHL, scoring a goal and adding 7 assists in 14 regular season games with the team. He also spent time with the Seattle Thunderbirds and Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL and the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL during the 2024-25 season.

"Matt is a great fit for our program," Keeper said. "He brings a 200' game with ability to move pucks, join the rush and create offensive zone opportunities while defending with great gap control limiting opposition time and space."

During the 2023-24 campaign, Gallant played 64 WHL games for the Moose Jaw Warriors and Edmonton Oil Kings, putting up 22 points on the year.

Gallant is the seventh member of the recruiting class, joining Rylan Silzer, Brayden Barnett, Jaron Desnoyers, Landen Gulutzan, Jaren Brinson, and Matt Kjemhus.
