The University of Regina hosts the Lethbridge Pronghorns this weekend in a battle of two teams still searching for their first win of the Canada West women's hockey season.

The Cougars (0-6-0) have had a difficult schedule to start off the year, as all six of their games have been against teams currently ranked in the CIS Top Ten – and five of those six games have been on the road. The U of R returns home this weekend for the first time since Oct. 3, when the Cougars hosted Saskatchewan in their season opener.

Regina is coming off of a pair of losses to No. 2-ranked Alberta. The Pandas came up with a convincing 9-0 victory on Friday, then scored a flurry of late goals to pull away from the Cougars in a 7-3 win on Saturday.

The Cougars have been led offensively by three veteran forwards. Kara McGeough has two goals and four assists for six points in six games, while Kelsie Graham has three goals and two assists. Kelcie McCutcheon has started off the season with four points in the team's first six games. Stefanie Banilevic, Hillary Lerat, Paige Wheeler, and Rianne Wight have all scored the first goals of their CIS careers for the Cougars this year.

Between the pipes, Lisa Urban has played in all but 25 minutes for the U of R. Naticia Leskun has performed admirably in two backup appearances, posting a 2.42 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage.

Lethbridge (0-5-1) had last weekend off after suffering 5-1 and 11-0 losses to the powerhouse Pandas on Oct. 17 and Oct. 18. The Pronghorns have struggled to generate offence so far this season, as they've only scored four goals in their first six games. Second-year forward Dayna Janzen has scored two of those four goals for Lethbridge. In net, Mackenzie Rizos and Kailey McMaster have split time. Rizos has the better numbers of the two, sporting a 4.15 goals-against average and an .867 save percentage. She also accounted for the team's lone point of the season, a 3-2 shootout loss against UBC on Oct. 10.

The teams met once in non-conference action, with the Cougars taking a 2-1 win back on Sept. 28 at the Panda Presence Tournament. Regina has enjoyed a historical edge over Lethbridge in Canada West play, as the Cougars lead the all-time series 20-8-1 and hold a 12-2 advantage over the Pronghorns in Regina.
