Box Score Game Summary

Playing in his first weekend series in his hometown at the CIS level, Dan Bohemier scored with 31 seconds remaining in overtime to give the University of Regina's men's hockey team a 3-2 win over the Manitoba Bisons on Saturday night at Max Bell Arena in Winnipeg.

Bohemier's goal, which Kyle Ross and Caine Pearpoint drew assists on, gave the Cougars a weekend split with the Bisons, as Manitoba took a 4-1 decision over Regina on Friday night.

Dustin Bru opened up the scoring for the Cougars at 13:29 of the first period, with Dylan Chapman drawing the lone assist. Chapman – who leads all Canada West rookie defenceman in goals (5), assists (7), and points (12) – then extended Regina's lead to 2-0 with just under two minutes remaining in the first. Ross assisted on Chapman's goal.

The Bisons fought back to draw even, however. Travis Kornelsen netted his third goal of the campaign midway through the second period, and Jared Walker scored with just under eight minutes in the third to knot the game at two. The score stayed tied at two through the end of three, setting the stage for Bohemier's heroics.

Making his first start since Oct. 18, Adam Ward made 29 saves – including one on a penalty shot by Manitoba's Calin Wild in the first period – to secure the win for the Cougars. Steve Christie made 24 saves for the Bisons.

The Cougars were 1-for-4 on the power play, while Manitoba was 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

The win improves Regina's record to 6-8-2. With 14 points, the Cougars are currently in fifth place in Canada West. The Bisons are in fourth place with 18 points and a 7-7-4 record.

The Cougars will now prepare for a non-conference game against Briercrest College on Saturday night in Strasbourg. The Clippers have put together a 3-8-5 record in the first half of their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference season.
