The Manitoba Bisons had no answer for Chelsea Cassano and Brittany Read on Saturday night, as the University of Regina recorded a 91-58 win in a Canada West women's basketball game in Winnipeg.

Cassano had 25 points and 15 rebounds for the Cougars, while Read ended up with 13 points and 14 rebounds in just 16 minutes on the floor. Read also piled up an incredible eight blocked shots, falling just two short of picking up a rare triple-double.

Carmen Stewart almost recorded a third double-double for Regina, ending up with nine points and nine rebounds on the night.

Tessa Klassen led the Bisons with 22 points.

The win improves Regina's record to 11-3. The Cougars still hold a one-game lead in the Great Plains Division over Winnipeg (10-4), as the Wesmen also completed a weekend sweep on Saturday night after topping the Brandon Bobcats.

The Cougars return home for the first time in over two months next weekend to host Alberta (10-3) and Saskatchewan (12-2) at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

NOTES: Cassano's 25 points were three shy of her career high of 28, set on Feb. 2, 2007 at Brandon ... Read's eight blocked shots are the most by a Cougar in a single game since the U of R joined Canada West prior to the 2001-02 season.
