Christie shuts out Cougars in Winnipeg

Steve Christie made stopped all 23 shots he faced to lead the Manitoba Bisons to a 2-0 win over the Regina Cougars on Friday night in Canada West men's hockey action in Winnipeg.

After a goalless first period, David Brown opened up the scoring for the Bisons just past the 12-minute mark of the second. Rick Wood and Mike Hellyer assisted on Brown's marker, his third of the season.

The score stayed 1-0 in favour of Manitoba until late in the third, when Calin Wild's fifth goal of the season gave the Bisons a two-goal lead.

Adam Ward stopped 25 of Manitoba's 27 shots for the Cougars, but was tagged with the loss.

The Cougars are now 6-11-2 on the season, while Manitoba improves to 9-8-4. The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Winnipeg.
