Box Score Game Summary

Kelsie Graham's goal with 8:25 remaining in the third period broke a 2-2 tie and stood up as the game winner as the University of Regina's women's hockey team scored a 4-2 victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Saturday night in a Canada West game in Lethbridge.

Paige Wheeler opened the scoring for the Cougars just over four minutes into the game. Lethbridge's Lindsay Nadeau tied it up on the power play four minutes later, and the score stayed tied at one until late in the second period.

Breanne Melnychuk put the Pronghorns into the lead with just under three minutes remaining before the second intermission, but their lead would be short lived. Jayme-Lee Green scored on a power play just over a minute and a half later, tying the game at two. Stefany Rankin and Brooke Einarson assisted on Green's goal, her first of the season.

Einarson also assisted on Graham's game-winner. Kara McGeough iced the game with an empty-net goal with ten seconds remaining.

The win improves the Cougars' season record to 4-13-1. Regina took three out of a possible four points from Lethbridge this weekend and now sit six points behind UBC (7-10-1) for the fourth and final Canada West postseason berth.

The Cougars will battle for their playoff lives next weekend, as they'll host UBC on Friday and Saturday night at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on both nights.
