The win gives the Cougars (14-4) a four-game lead over Winnipeg (10-8) atop the division. With a 3-1 season record against the Wesmen and just four games remaining for both teams in the regular season, the Cougars will win the Great Plains Division title for the second consecutive season and the fourth time since Canada West and the Great Plains Athletic Conference merged prior to the 2001-02 season.
The Cougars will finish off their season with a pair of weekend series at home against Manitoba and Brandon. Winnipeg and Manitoba will battle in a best-of-three division semifinal series on the Feb. 13 weekend, and the Cougars will host the winner of that in the division final, which is tentatively scheduled to begin on Feb. 19.
NOTES: Cassano played in her 100th career conference game on Saturday, becoming the U of R's all-time leader in the category.
