Box Score Game Summary

The University of Manitoba's women's hockey team won its 15th consecutive Canada West game of the season on Friday night after defeating the Regina Cougars by a score of 4-2 on Friday night at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre.

Addie Miles, Kayla Duna, Leanne Kisil, and Tammy Brade all scored for the Bisons, who improve to a perfect 15-0-0 with the win. Stacey Corfield stopped 12 of Regina's 14 shots to record the win for Manitoba.

Gina Campbell and Kelcie McCutcheon replied for the Cougars. Lisa Urban made 22 saves in the loss.

Miles opened the scoring for the Bisons six minutes into the first, and Duna extended the lead to two with a goal ten minutes later. The score remained 2-0 until late in the second period, when Miles notched a power play goal with less than four minutes remaining in the stanza. Brade's league-leading 13th goal of the season gave the Bisons a 4-0 lead just over two minutes later.

Three Cougar rookies combined to cut the lead to three with a goal that came 36 seconds after Brade's marker. Campbell scored her second goal of the season with helpers from Paige Wheeler and Rianne Wight to put the Cougars on the board.

Kelsie Graham and Kara McGeough assisted on McCutcheon's power play goal that made the score 4-2 in the latter stages of the third period, but the Cougars weren't able to solve Corfield again to draw closer to the Bisons.

The Cougars drop to 3-12-0 on the season after the loss.

The two teams will square off again on Saturday night at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
