Box Score Game Summary

The University of Regina's women's hockey team scored two goals in the span of 75 seconds in the second period but it wasn't enough to offset three earlier tallies from the Alberta Pandas, who took a 3-2 victory over the Cougars on Saturday night at the Clare Drake Arena in Edmonton.

Tarin Podloski and Lindsie Fairfield scored for Alberta in the first period, and Leah Copeland extended the Pandas' lead to 3-0 with a power play goal early in the second period.

The Cougars, who were shut out by the Pandas on Friday night, finally got their offence going later in the second period.

Jacey Jones – who hails from Delburne, Alta., a town of about 800 people situated two hours south of Edmonton – got the Cougars on the board with a deflection during a 5-on-3 power play. Kelsie Graham and Gina Campbell were credited with assists on Jones' first Canada West goal of her career.

Second-year forward Paige Wheeler cut Alberta's lead to one after scoring an unassisted power play goal 1:15 after Jones scored, but Panda goalie Dana Vinge shut the door the rest of the way to preserve the Alberta victory.

Lisa Urban was peppered with rubber, making 35 saves in the loss. Alberta outshot Regina by a 38-9 margin during the contest.

The Cougars (0-2-0) will travel to Lethbridge next weekend for a pair of road games against the Pronghorns (0-2-0).
