Huskies shut out Cougars in Saskatoon

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies scored a decisive 6-0 victory over the Regina Cougars on Friday night in a Canada West men's hockey game in Saskatoon.

Steven DaSilva, Brett Parker, Kyle Ross, Brenden Dowd, Michael Kaye, and Brett Ward all scored for the Huskies, who led 2-0 after the first period and 3-0 after the second. Jeff Harvey stopped all 29 shots he faced to record the shutout for Saskatchewan.

Making his second consecutive start, Shayne Barrie made 23 saves between the pipes for the Cougars.

The Cougars were 0-for-6 on the power play, while Saskatchewan converted on two of its nine man advantages. The two teams combined for a total of 78 minutes in penalties, the majority of which came in the third period.

Friday's game was the front end of a doubleheader, as the two teams will meet in Regina on Saturday night. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre.
