Brittney Kaye scored just ten seconds into overtime to give the Lethbridge Pronghorns a 2-1 victory over the Regina Cougars on Saturday night at the Nicholas Sheran Arena in Lethbridge.
The Cougars still got a point for the overtime loss and took three out of a possible four points from Lethbridge this weekend. With three points this season, the Cougars (1-2-1) currently sit in third place in the conference.
After a scoreless first period, Shelby Ballendine opened up the scoring for Lethbridge on the power play nine minutes into the second.
Kelcie McCutcheon scored her second goal in as many nights for the Cougars late in the second period, tying the game at one apiece with an unassisted effort.
Neither team was able to score in the third period, setting the stage for Kaye's overtime winner.
Lisa Urban was solid between the pipes again for the Cougars, making 30 saves. Ashley Kavanagh stopped 23 shots to secure the win for Lethbridge.
The Cougars will have a weekend off before returning to action on Oct. 30 and 31 at home against Alberta.
