Box Score Game Summary
Katie Borbely scored a hat trick and added an assist to lead the No. 3-ranked Alberta Pandas to a 7-0 win over the Regina Cougars on Friday night in a Canada West women's hockey game at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre.
Borbely opened the scoring on the power play just before the eight-minute mark of the first period, added Alberta's third goal early in the second, and added another power play goal late in the third. Stephanie Ramsay scored twice for the Pandas, while Tarin Podloski and Sarah Hilworth both had one. Nicole Pratt registered three assists during the win.
Dana Vinge stopped 22 shots to record her second shutout of the season for the Pandas.
Lisa Urban started the game between the pipes for the Cougars, but was pulled after Alberta's fourth goal.
Naticia Leskun played the last 15 minutes of the second period, and Urban came back in for the third. Urban stopped 29 of the 34 shots she faced, while Leskun allowed two goals on six shots.
Alberta was 3-for-9 on the power play. The Cougars were held scoreless on their 10 opportunities with the man advantage.
The win improves Alberta's record to 7-0-0, while the Cougars fall to 1-3-1.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
