Dinos score twice in second; take 2-1 win over Cougars

The Calgary Dinos scored twice in the second period and took a 2-1 victory over the Regina Cougars on Saturday night in a Canada West men's hockey game at the Father David Bauer Arena.

Dan Bohemier opened the scoring five minutes into the first period, netting his second goal of the season with a helper from Russell Nielsen.

The score would stay 1-0 in favour of the Cougars until midway through the second, when the Dinos scored twice in the second half of the middle frame to take the lead. Paul Gentile scored shorthanded just past the 11-minute mark to tie the game, and a Torrie Wheat power play goal gave Calgary the lead.

Dustin Butler did the rest for Calgary, blanking the Cougars the rest of the way to end up turning aside 30 of the 31 shots he faced. Brant Hilton made 33 saves between the pipes for Regina.

Calgary was 1-for-6 on the power play, while the Cougars were held scoreless in their eight opportunities with the man advantage.

Regina falls to 2-6-0 with the loss. The Cougars will be back in action next weekend at home against Lethbridge (3-4-1).
