Alberta forward Alana Cabana scored a hat trick to lead the Alberta Pandas to a 4-0 victory over the Regina Cougars in a Canada West women's hockey game in Edmonton on Friday night.
Cabana opened the scoring on the power play midway through the first period, then scored twice in the final four minutes of the second to help the Pandas pull away from the visiting Cougars.
Jennifer Jubb scored an insurance goal for the Pandas early in the third period.
Dana Vinge made 16 saves to secure the shutout for the Pandas, while Regina goalie
Lisa Urban made 33 saves in the loss.
Alberta is now 1-0-0 on the season, while the Cougars fall to 0-2-0.
The teams will play again on Saturday night at the Clare Drake Arena.
