The No. 1-ranked Simon Fraser Clan recorded an 85-61 victory over the Regina Cougars on Friday night in Canada West women's basketball action at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

The Clan led by seven points at the half, then blew the game wide open with a 15-2 run over the last minute of the third quarter and the first three minutes of the fourth.

Katie Miyazaki had a game-high 17 points for the Clan and added five assists and five steals in 28 minutes on the floor. Laurelle Weigl was 8-for-10 from the free throw line and had 16 points, while Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe had eight points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Joanna Zalesiak led the No. 4-ranked Cougars with 13 points and seven rebounds. Brittany Read played just six minutes in the first half after getting into foul trouble and ended up with 11 points, while Carmen Stewart chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.

The win improves Simon Fraser's record to 4-0. The Clan will travel to Brandon for a Saturday night game against the Bobcats (0-5).

The Cougars (2-1) will be back in action against Trinity Western (1-2) on Saturday night at the CKHS. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
