Box Score Game Summary
The No. 4-ranked Manitoba Bisons defeated the Regina Cougars in a shootout for the second consecutive game, scoring a 2-1 win on Sunday afternoon in Canada West women's hockey action at the Communiskate Rink.
Becca King and Tammy Brade both scored for Manitoba in the shootout and Bisons goalie Stacey Corfield denied all four Regina attempts to lock up the win.
Brade also scored in regulation for the Bisons, notching her fifth goal of the season midway through the first period on the power play. Nellie Minshull and Chelsea Braun both assisted on Brade's goal.
The Cougars replied with just under five minutes left in the second period, when
Gina Campbell scored an unassisted marker to tie the game at one apiece.
Corfield made 27 saves for the Bisons, while Regina goalie
Lisa Urban stopped 25 shots in regulation.
Manitoba improves to 6-2-0 with the win and will hit the road again next weekend for a pair of games at Lethbridge.
The Cougars (1-4-3) will finish up their six-game homestand next weekend with a pair of games against the Calgary Dinos in what will be the first meeting between the two teams since February of 2001.
