Read's double-double leads No. 4-ranked Cougars to win over 'Horns

Brittany Read led all players in both points and rebounds on Friday night as the University of Regina's women's basketball team opened up its Canada West schedule with a 76-67 road win over the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Friday night.

With the score tied at 65 and just over three minutes remaining on the clock, the No. 4-ranked Cougars took over the game. Regina scored 11 straight points down the stretch to put away the Pronghorns, who led by as many as five points early in the fourth.

Read had 25 points and 12 rebounds to register a big double-double for the Cougars (1-0), who also got 17 from Carmen Stewart and 11 from Gabrielle Gheyssen.

Stephanie Price led Lethbridge with 13 points and nine rebounds. The Pronghorns fall to 0-3 with the loss.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Lethbridge.
