Dustin Bru scored twice as the University of Regina's men hockey team scored a critical 4-0 win over the UBC Thunderbirds on Friday night in Vancouver.
Hilton turned aside all 27 shots he faced as the Cougars improve their record to 10-13-2. With 22 points on the season, Regina is in fifth place in Canada West with Calgary (21 points) and UBC (20) hot on its tail.
Jeff Preston opened up the scoring for the Cougars, popping his first goal of the season midway through the first period. Bru scored twice in the second period to extend Regina's lead to two, and
Ryan Sawka iced the game with a goal midway through the third.
UBC goalie Francois Thuot saved 31 of Regina's 35 shots on the night.
The Cougars can now clinch a playoff spot on Saturday night with a regulation win over the Thunderbirds. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PST at Thunderbird Arena.
