The No. 4-ranked University of Regina's women's basketball team finished off its conference schedule on Saturday night with an 85-55 win over the Brandon Bobcats at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
The Cougars led by 19 points at the half and pulled away from Brandon after outscoring the Bobcats by a 31-15 margin in the third quarter.
Four Cougars hit double digits in points during Saturday's win, led by
Rebecca Schmidt's 13.
Jessica Lynch,
Jacquie Kenyon, and
Meryl Jordan all had 11 points for Regina, while
Chelsea Cassano had a game-high nine rebounds.
Jayla Bousquet and Meghan Allison both had 13 points to lead Brandon, while Nicisha Johnson had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. The Bobcats finish the season with a 1-21 record.
The win gives the Cougars an 18-4 record to finish off the season, their best conference mark since going 18-2 during the 2003-04 campaign.
The Cougars will now enjoy a weekend off before hosting the best-of-three Great Plains Division final beginning on Feb. 19. They'll square off against the winner of the Winnipeg/Manitoba semifinal, which will be played in the Wesmen's gym next weekend.
