2/7/2009 5:33:21 PM

Box Score Game Summary

The Saskatchewan Huskies defeated the Regina Cougars by a 6-3 score on Saturday afternoon in a Canada West women's hockey game in Saskatoon.

Paige Wheeler and Kourtney McCutcheon scored for Regina in the first period, as the Cougars took a 2-1 lead after one. Nicole Peppler and Kelsey Tulloch scored for the Huskies in the middle frame to give Saskatchewan a 3-2 lead after two.

Kelcie McCutcheon tied the game at three near the midway point of the third, with Stefany Rankin and Kara McGeough assisting on McCutcheon's sixth goal of the season.

It was all Saskatchewan from there, however. Robin Ulrich, Laura Connor, and Danny Stone combined for three Huskie goals in just over two minutes, giving Saskatchewan all the offence it would need.

The win clinches a playoff berth for the Huskies.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon in Regina. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre.

NOTES: Kourtney McCutcheon's first-period goal was the first of her CIS career.
