Huskies score 5-3 win over Cougars

Box Score Game Summary

The Saskatchewan Huskies scored four unanswered goals over the second and third periods and went on to record a 5-3 win over the Regina Cougars on Sunday night in a Canada West game in Saskatoon.

Devon LeBlanc gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead with a goal late in the period, but Michael Kaye and Matt Swaby both scored for Saskatchewan in the second period to give the Huskies the lead. Chad Greenan and Brett Parker scored 80 seconds apart early in the third, putting Saskatchewan up three.

Jared Jagow responded with a goal just 26 seconds after Parker's goal, and the Cougars drew to within one when Tanner Shultz potted his fifth of the season less than two minutes later.

The score stayed 4-3 in favour of the Huskies until late in the third period, when Greenan scored another to put Saskatchewan up by two.

Adam Ward made 39 saves in the loss for the Cougars, while Jeff Harvey made 31 saves to secure the win for Saskatchewan.

The Cougars will have a weekend off before hosting Calgary on Jan. 29 and 30 at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre.
