The University of Regina's women's basketball team improved its Prairie Division-leading record to 14-2 on Saturday night after defeating the Calgary Dinos by a score of 87-63 at the Jack Simpson Gym in Calgary.
The Dinos cut a deficit that had reached double digits all the way down to one point early in the third quarter, but the Cougars took control of the game from there. Regina went on an 18-2 run that spanned the majority of the third and never led by less than ten points after that.
Lindsay Ledingham was 9-for-16 from the field and scored a career-high 23 points for the Cougars, while
Joanna Zalesiak had 20 points and led all players in both rebounds (9) and steals (4).
Gabrielle Gheyssen and
Brittany Read both chipped in with 10 points for Regina.
Megan Lang led Calgary with 12 points, with Megan Schaufele and Tamara Jarrett each contributing 10.
The Cougars now need just one win in their last four games to clinch first place in Canada West's Prairie Division. Regina will host Winnipeg (10-7) next weekend at the CKHS.
