The University of Regina's women's basketball team improved to 5-0 on the season after scoring a 72-51 road win over Trinity Western on Friday night in Langley, B.C.

The Cougars led by nine after the first, then clamped down on defence, allowing only nine points in both the second and the third quarters.

Four Cougars broke into double figures in the win, led by Joanna Zalesiak's 16 points. Anne Mercer and Carly Graham both had 13, while Lindsay Ledingham scored 10. Zalesiak added a game-high six assists.

Tiffany Olsen had 15 points to lead Trinity Western (1-6).

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Langley.
