Cougars stay unbeaten with win over Trinity Western

Lindsay Ledingham scored a game-high 19 points for the University of Regina's women's basketball team as the Cougars improved to 6-0 on the season after a 74-47 road win over Trinity Western on Saturday night.

The Cougars led by three after the first quarter and by 11 at halftime, then exploded in the third quarter. Regina outscored Trinity Western by a 26-8 margin in the third to take control of the game and cruised to a 27-point win.

Ledingham was 7-for-11 from the field and also pulled down eight rebounds in the win for the Cougars. Joanna Zalesiak had 12 points for Regina, while Gabrielle Gheyssen scored 10.

Tiffany Olsen and Janelle Traber both scored eight for Trinity Western.

The Cougars will hit the road next weekend for what will be the biggest test thus far in the Canada West schedule. They'll head right back to the West Coast for a two-game series against Victoria, which boasts an 8-0 conference record.
