Box Score Game Summary
The University of Manitoba's women's hockey team dominated from start to finish in a 10-0 shutout win over the Regina Cougars on Saturday afternoon at The Co-Operators Centre.
Manitoba goalie Leiette Klassen stopped all 19 shots she faced to post the shutout for the No. 5-ranked Bisons, who improve to 5-3-0 with the victory.
The Bisons scored their first goal just five minutes into the opening frame on a shot from Rachèle Bosc in close. Less than five minutes later, Bosc added her second goal of the night after slipping the puck past Cougar goalie
Lisa Urban on a scramble in front. Manitoba scored twice more before the first intermission off goals from Kristin Cockerill and Nellie Minshull.
Manitoba came out firing again in the second period, adding to their lead just a minute into the middle frame after a goal by Tammy Brade, which chased Urban in favour of backup
Naticia Leskun.
The Bisons beat Leskun three times in the second period, as Meagan Vestby, Amy Coates, and Kristy Majeran all scored to put Manitoba up 8-0 going into the third.
Regina came out strong in the third period and carried the play in the first few minutes, but were unable to solve Klassen. Manitoba added late goals from Minshull and Majeran to close out the scoring.
The Cougars (4-3-1) will be back in action next weekend with a pair of road games against the Alberta Pandas, while Manitoba will travel to Calgary for two contests against the Dinos.
