Manitoba scores second straight 5-1 win over Cougars

Box Score Game Summary

The University of Regina's women's hockey team was defeated 5-1 by the Manitoba Bisons on Saturday afternoon at the Max Bell Arena in Winnipeg.

Nellie Minshull and Tammy Brade scored to give Manitoba a 2-0 lead after the first period. Caitlin MacDonald and Kristy Majeran scored in the span of 75 seconds early in the second to give the Bisons a four-goal lead and chase Regina starter Lisa Urban.

Jordyn Hrehirchuk's goal late in the second gave the Bisons a 5-0 lead.

Kelcie McCutcheon's seventh goal of the season got the Cougars on the board at the 13:39 mark of the third period. Nicole Hollingshead and Stefanie Banilevic assisted on the power play marker.

Stacey Corfield made 19 saves to secure the victory for Manitoba. Naticia Leskun stopped 16 of 17 shots for the Cougars after being inserted into the game early in the second period.

The Cougars will be back in action next weekend at home against Lethbridge.
