In a game where neither offence never really got going, the University of Regina's women's basketball team recorded a 54-49 road win over the Winnipeg Wesmen on Friday night.
The win improves Regina's conference record to 13-2, while Winnipeg (12-3) falls a game behind the Cougars and Saskatchewan as the Huskies (13-2) also recorded a win on Friday night.
Lindsay Ledingham scored 19 points to lead all players and pace the Cougars in scoring for the third consecutive contest.
Joanna Zalesiak had 18 points and 12 rebounds to register the game's only double-double, while
Anne Mercer pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.
Amy Ogidan and Alyssa Grant both scored 10 for Winnipeg, which was just 20-for-82 (24.4%) from the field in the loss.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Winnipeg.
NOTES: The game's combined point total of 103 was the lowest in a contest involving the Cougars since Nov. 24, 2006, when the U of R defeated Brandon by a 72-24 margin.
