No. 5 Bisons earn split after 3-0 win over Cougars

The University of Manitoba earned a women's hockey weekend split after defeating the Regina Cougars by a 3-0 score on Sunday afternoon at the Max Bell Arena in Winnipeg.

The Bisons struck twice in the game's opening four minutes, as Kacey Funk notched a goal 1:28 in and Maggie Litchfield-Medd scored her first career goal just over two minutes later.

Amy Lee iced the win with a power play goal midway through the third. Tara Lacquette had a 23-save shutout for Manitoba, which improves to 13-5-1 with the victory.

Lisa Urban made 19 saves for the Cougars, who drop to 7-11-2 on the season with the loss.

The Cougars return home next weekend to host the Canada West-leading Alberta Pandas (14-3-3) at The Co-Operators Centre.
