Huskies score weekend sweep with 6-2 win over Cougars

1/8/2011 10:58:48 PM

Box Score Game Summary

The University of Saskatchewan's men's hockey team scored four times in the first 11 minutes and went on to defeat the Regina Cougars by a 6-2 score on Saturday night at Rutherford Rink in Saskatoon.

Jason Wagar, Chris Durand, Derek Hulak, and Kyle Bortis all scored for the Huskies in the first period, giving the home side a commanding lead. Carter Selinger – with a helper from newcomer Cody Zubko – got the Cougars on the board late in the first, but that was as close as the U of R would come.

Bortis and Matt Delahey added power play markers for Saskatchewan in the second period, and Regina's Neil Kodman finished off the scoring with a goal just eight seconds into the third.

Adam Ward made 36 saves in the loss for the Cougars, while David Reekie stopped 24 shots for Saskatchewan.

The Cougars will have a weekend off before returning to action on Jan. 21 and Jan. 22 at UBC.
