Cougars end up with weekend split after 5-1 loss to Manitoba

The University of Regina's men's hockey team couldn't duplicate its Friday effort against No. 3-ranked Manitoba on Saturday night, losing 5-1 to the Bisons at the Max Bell Arena in Winnipeg.

Blair Macaulay had a pair for Manitoba and  Jared Walker, Jordan Davis, and Del Cowan added singles as the Bisons improve their conference record to 5-1-0 on the season. Jesse Deckert made 11 saves in the win.

Terrance DeLaronde (pictured) scored Regina's lone goal late in the first period with a helper from Cody Zubko. Regina goaltender Lucas Gore made 37 saves as the Cougars (1-5-0) were outshot 42-12 by Manitoba.

The Cougars will host UBC (2-0-2) next Friday and Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. on both nights at The Co-operators Centre.
