Brooklyn Moskowy scored her first two CIS goals and Paige Wheeler scored the lone goal in the shootout as the University of Regina's women's hockey team took a 4-3 road win over UBC on Friday night in Vancouver.

The win improves Regina's conference record to 2-3-0 as the Cougars move into a tie for fourth place in the Canada West standings with Calgary. UBC drops to 1-1-1 on the season.

Moskowy's first goal, an unassisted effort, was scored just shy of the 13-minute mark of the first period after UBC opened the game with two goals in the first half of the opening frame. Gina Campbell tied up the game with another unassisted goal just 61 seconds later, and Moskowy's second of the period gave the Cougars a 3-2 lead going into the first intermission.

Rebecca Unrau scored just 43 seconds into the second period to tie the game at three, but that was the end of the scoring as Regina's Lisa Urban and UBC's Carly Butcher shut the door from there. After the 10-minute overtime solved nothing, Wheeler went top shelf on Butcher in the third round of the shootout and Urban stopped all three Thunderbird attempts to secure the victory.

Nikola Brown-John and Tamara Pickford both scored for the Thunderbirds as they opened up an early 2-0 lead.

Urban made 22 saves in regulation in addition to the three stops in the shootout to secure her second win of the season. Butcher stopped 34 shots for UBC as Regina outshot the Thunderbirds by a 38-25 margin during the contest.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Vancouver.

NOTES: Urban now has 29 career wins, one short of Andrea Charanduk's University of Regina career record of 30.
