The Cougars scored 11 consecutive points in under two minutes midway through the third, quickly turning a two-point deficit into a nine-point lead.
Michelle Clark and
Danielle Schmidt both hit big three-pointers for Regina during the run. UBC cut the lead back down to two in the fourth quarter, but the Cougars held off the Thunderbirds down the stretch to secure their third consecutive Canada West victory.
Clark and Schmidt tied for the game high with 17 points apiece, with Clark going 3-for-6 from three-point land and Schmidt hitting two of her three attempts from downtown.
Joanna Zalesiak had 14 points while leading all players with 37 minutes on the floor, while
