The No. 1-ranked University of Regina's women's basketball team scored 13 consecutive points in a four-minute first-half run and never looked back, taking out UBC Okanagan by a 91-66 score on Friday night in Kelowna, B.C.
The Cougars also went on a 15-0 run later in the second quarter to take complete control of the contest, as the visitors led by 20 at the half and cruised to their sixth consecutive Canada West win with all 12 players on the roster getting at least 10 minutes on the floor.
Lindsay Ledingham and
Michelle Clark (pictured) both scored a team-high 14 points for Regina, while
Carly Graham and
Danielle Schmidt both had 11 points and
Brittany Read added 10.
Joanna Zalesiak and
Alyssia Kajati tied for the team lead with seven rebounds.
Madison Kaneda had a game-high 15 points for UBC Okanagan (0-5).
With their win and Alberta's home loss to Trinity Western on Friday, the Cougars (6-0) are now the only Canada West team undefeated in conference play.
The Cougars will travel to Kamloops, B.C. for a game against Thompson Rivers (3-4) on Saturday night.
