The University of Regina's women's hockey team suffered a 3-1 road loss to the No. 8-ranked Alberta Pandas on Friday night in Edmonton.

Katie Borbely and Jessica Abt both scored for the Pandas (5-1-5) in the opening 20 minutes and Sarah Hilworth extended Alberta's lead to 3-0 with a goal just 21 seconds into the second.

Cougar goalie Lisa Urban shut the door from there, but the only offence Regina generated on the night was with just 35 seconds remaining and Urban on the bench for an extra attacker as Stephanie Sawchuk (pictured) scored her second of the season.

Kaitlyn Chapman made 24 saves in the win for Alberta, while Urban stopped 23 shots for the Cougars.

Regina (4-7-0) and the Pandas will square off again on Saturday night.
