Box Score Game Summary
The University of Regina's women's hockey team recovered from a 3-1 first-period deficit to record a 5-4 win over Lethbridge on Friday night in a Canada West game in Lethbridge.
Rochelle Radke opened the scoring just 84 seconds into the contest for Lethbridge, but
Rianne Wight's 16th of the season tied up the game at 4:41. The Pronghorns regained the lead just 14 seconds later, as Megan Bailey found the back of the net. Radke's second of the night gave Lethbridge a two-goal lead 14 minutes into the first, but it would be almost all Cougars after that.
Nicole Hollingshead scored a power play goal with just two seconds left in the first period to cut the deficit to one going into the first intermission, and
Rae-Lynn Somogyi scored five minutes into the second to tie the game at three apiece.
Gina Campbell and
Kelcie McCutcheon both scored for the Cougars in the third to put them up 5-3. Megan Bach scored a shorthanded goal for Lethbridge three minutes after McCutcheon's goal, but Cougar goalie
Lisa Urban closed the door to preserve the victory.
Urban made 21 saves for the Cougars in the win, while Crystal Patterson stopped 41 for Lethbridge.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Lethbridge.
NOTES: Wight joins Erin Balfour, Elysia Cobbledick, and Brandy West as the only U of R players to score at least 16 goals in a single season.
