Box Score Game Summary

The University of Regina's men's hockey team led 1-0 after 20 minutes, but three unanswered goals by Lethbridge in the second period and one more in the third gave the Pronghorns a 4-1 on Saturday night in a Canada West game at The Co-Operators Centre.

Cody Zubko opened the scoring for the Cougars at the 4:35 mark of the first period after scoring on a rebound following a shot by Craig Cuthbert. Lethbridge outshot Regina by a 16-5 margin in the opening frame, but solid goaltending by #A.J. Whiffen# kept the Pronghorns off the board.

Winston Day Chief solved Whiffen five minutes into the second period with a shorthanded marker, and Lethbridge took the lead for good after a Tyler Melancon power play goal seven minutes later.

Ryan Pottruff added another power play goal with just over two minutes left in the second to put Lethbridge up 3-1 after 40 minutes. Day Chief's second goal of the game – and the Pronghorns' third consecutive scored on the power play – gave the visitors a three-goal advantage just shy of the five-minute mark.

Day Chief added an assist for a three-point night, while Melancon and Nicholas Hotson both had two-point nighs for Lethbridge. Scott Bowles made 15 saves for the Pronghorns, who were 3-for-6 on the power play and improve their Canada West record to 10-8-5 on the season.

Whiffen made 34 saves for Regina (8-16-2).

The Cougars will close out their Canada West schedule on the road against Calgary next weekend, while Lethbridge has three games against Calgary and two games against Saskatchewan remaining.
