The University of Regina's women's hockey team plays at The Co-Operators Centre for the final times this weekend, as the Cougars will entertain the No. 4-ranked Alberta Pandas on Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The Cougars enter the weekend with a 7-11-2 conference record after registering a split last weekend on the road against Manitoba. Lisa Urban made 27 saves and Rae-Lynn Somogyi scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over the Bisons on Saturday, but the Cougars were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention following a 3-0 loss to Manitoba on Sunday.

Rianne Wight notched another goal for the Cougars on Saturday, bringing her total up to 14 for the season. The third-year forward is tied for second in the conference in goals and is just the sixth player in school history to score at least 14 in a single season.

This weekend will mark the final home games for Somogyi and Kelcie McCutcheon, who are both in their fifth years with the Cougars. Somogyi has been the epitome of consistency with the Cougars, as Saturday's contest will mark her 100th consecutive game played – a streak which began back on Jan. 26, 2007.

McCutcheon has been a key part of the Cougars' offence since the 2006-07 campaign. She is third on the team in points this season and ranks ninth in U of R history with 71 career points – five back of Kelsie Graham and Kara McGeough, who both ended their careers with 76.

Alberta comes into the weekend with a 14-3-3 record and first in the conference standings with 31 points. Currently riding a six-game winning streak, the Pandas can nail down their 10th consecutive Canada West regular season title with wins in at least three of their final four contests.

The Pandas have three of Canada West's top 10 scorers, including Sarah Hilworth, Leah Copeland, and Melody Howard. Hilworth ranks fourth in the conference with 22 points, while Copeland is tied for fifth with 20 and Howard is tied for ninth with 17.

After this weekend, the Pandas will close out the Canada West schedule with a pair of home games against Saskatchewan. The Cougars will finish the season with two road games at Lethbridge.
