Box Score Game Summary

The University of Alberta Pandas scored four times in the first period and added singles in the second and third to come up with a 6-2 win over the Regina Cougars on Saturday night in a Canada West women's hockey game at The Co-Operators Centre.

Katie Stewart opened the scoring for the Pandas with the first of what would be four power play goals for Alberta four minutes into the first period. Stewart's goal was quickly answered by Rianne Wight's 15th of the season, but Alberta's Lindsie Fairfield restored the lead 76 seconds after that.

Kendra Finch scored a power play goal for the Cougars to tie up the game at 2-2, but Alberta's offence would strike two more times before the opening 20 minutes were up. First it was a power play goal by Alana Cabana two minutes after Finch's goal, and Sarah Hilworth put the Pandas up 4-2 a minute and a half later.

Cabana added another power play goal for Alberta three minutes into the second, and Sarah Grandinetti capped the scoring with a goal early in the third.

Kanesa Schwartz made 22 saves to pick up her seventh win of the season and help No. 4-ranked Alberta improve to 16-3-3 on the season. Lisa Urban made 29 saves for the Cougars.

Alberta was coolly efficient on the power play, going 4-for-11 with the man advantange. The Cougars were successful on one of their eight opportunities.

Alberta will close out its Canada West schedule at home against Saskatchewan this weekend, while the Cougars will finish the season with a pair of road games against Lethbridge.
