Cougars now 10-0 after road win over Manitoba

The University of Regina's women's basketball team now boasts a perfect 10-0 conference record after pulling away in the second half for an 84-60 road win over Manitoba on Friday night in Winnipeg.

Regina led by 11 at halftime and the Bisons pulled to within four points midway through the third quarter, but the No. 1-ranked Cougars put together a massive 26-0 run over the last five minutes of the third and the first five minutes of the fourth and cruised to victory.

Michelle Clark hit six three-pointers in the victory, tying the U of R's record for the most threes hit in a Canada West game. Clark ended up with a game-high 18 points, while Joanna Zalesiak had 13 points and led all players with six assists. Lindsay Ledingham had 10 points and 10 rebounds to end up with the game's lone double-double.

Maria Pawlyshyn and Allison Balasko both paced Manitoba with nine points.

The two teams will square off again on Saturday night beginning at 6 p.m. in a game that will be webcast live at www.canadawest.tv.
